Let's Reconnect As The Days Grow By!
Hello! I'm Elizabeth, let me re-introduce myself and my wonderful husband who pops in here from time to time. I had the idea for this blog/web page while pregnant/postpartum with our first baby. I hated being away from her and was hoping to find a separate source of income to give me the freedom to stay home. I dropped the ball on keeping the blog updated and inputting new recipes unless my hubs reminded me. Since then I've changed to a different type of pharmacy technician where I assumed more responsibility in a lead role, and ultimately decided that was not for me and I wanted to be home with my then two babies. So, after having our sweet baby boy I stepped down from my lead role to a part time position and haven't looked back since. Now, were expecting baby #3 in the mid-late winter and are finding our groove in our marriage, parenthood, friendships, and being adult children and learning how to help your parents when they need it. Someone recently informed me this was considered the sandwich generation. So, in re-introducing and re-launching this blog/website I'm hoping to give you insight into what is probably considered adulting 101, but is something I'm learning as I go. So let me dive a little deeper into who I am and what I love. I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, cousin, niece, granddaughter, dog mom, neighbor, medication historian, and hopeful blogger. I love being a wife and mom far more then I imagined and even on the days I feel like I'm losing my mind and doing a terrible job, they're still there and give me sweet hugs and kisses and tell me it's okay. I've recently gotten into finding activities to do with my toddler from different books we read. I'm hoping to start a toddler book club series with printables to do with your toddler. I love brainstorming and spending time with my husband. I feel like we've grown these past few months and have a deeper relationship and are able to work through things when we need to and I've been enjoying that. I have a great love for a lot of different interests. I believe some jokingly call it a hobby whore. I do believe I fall into that category because I will 100% believe I'm going to embark on that craft for a significant period of time. However, I would say scrapbooking, painting, jewelry making, a weird niche of possibly finger knitting that requires a certain type of yarn that I of course can't remember. Oh, and I do love puffy painting on fabric and may one day attempt to learn to operate my cricut at a non-glacial pace or I'll secretly steal my mom's sizzix machine and just die cut them the old school way (LOL). I will say I also love to read, in fact I can still remember my first chapter book in second grade about JFK. I was hooked. You could almost guarantee if I was getting in trouble in school it's because I was reading a book in my desk. Now I love trying new books, even though there is less time to read, I love exploring different books in fantasy, mystery, romance, science fiction occasionally and fiction. The non-fiction hasn't really piqued my interest unless it's involving a craft I want to learn or a skill like canning or gardening (even though I've been a terrible, non-existent gardener in our own garden the past four summers). Props to my husband, Seth for taking the garden under his wing and being the weed pulling, fruit baring master. He's what my sister-in-law calls a renaissance man, meaning he's good at a lot of things and has many interests. We here at Days Grow By are lucky to have him and love him. Once upon a time I used to be very into working out to Les Mills workouts and am hoping to hop back on that train. I think it's probably just important I work on some time management skills to accomplish most things I want to do. One of my favorite things to do, cook/bake. I LOVE feeding people. I really love to try new recipes and perfect ones we've come up with or have just enjoyed. In doing that we discovered we did not love all the ads that come with recipes sometimes so we added a recipe index to our website of recipes we've been handed or come up with. If it's one we've adapted we will say where we found the recipe. I also enjoy watching certain TV shows and movies. I have some I will re-watch with no one pulling my arm like: Veronica Mars, Haven, Friends, Sweet Magnolias, The Mindy Project, and New Girl. I'm sure there are others but this is what I know I love to watch. Now that you know a little or a lot about me and the interests I have, let me dive a little deeper into what I'm hoping you will get from this blog. I hope to share recipes you find easy and delicious. A sounding board in learning to navigate being an adult child and helping your parents when they do (and don't) want your help. A place to find ideas to have fun with your kids, whether it be a show, a book, or an activity. Fun things and serious things to do with your significant other to grow in your relationship. Ways to support your friendships or family member when life happens unexpectedly or expectedly. Basically just adulting as a mom, wife, daughter, friend, family member and neighbor. We're all so blessed to have the people we have in our lives and get to learn and grow with them. After all, isn't it crazy how fast the Days Grow By.
